Special Education Teacher - Secondary

Bowling Green School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to support and inspire learners. This position focuses on serving students through flexible and engaging instruction, while fostering intellectual and social-emotional growth and assisting with career readiness skills. The ideal candidate will create a challenging yet supportive learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.

Salary: Based on the district’s certified salary schedule and commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.

• Serve as a case manager and maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.

• Provide differentiated instruction and adapt curriculum to meet the unique needs of students.

• Monitor student progress using data and adjust instruction to support growth.

• Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to support student success.

• Create a structured, inclusive classroom environment that supports academic, social, and emotional development.

• Supervise and support paraprofessionals assigned to students/placement.

• Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, team collaboration, and district initiatives 

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor. 

Qualifications

• Valid Missouri Special Education certification

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field

• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills

• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and gifted education practices
