Grades 6-8 Math Intervention Teacher
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional responsibilities: 1. Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math services in individual, small group settings, or full class assignments. 2. Uses identified needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of district’s and state’s math content standards. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data obtained from student performance. 3. Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. 4. Creates a classroom environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates exemplary classroom math instructional practice and possesses a deep understanding of mathematics theory for the purpose of effective best practices to improve student achievement results and close achievement gaps. • Regularly analyzes data and monitors student progress while delivering focused intervention to students. • Evaluates student achievement for the purpose of placing students in appropriate intervention and support services. • Participates in on-going and job-embedded professional development (e.g. staff meetings; study groups, demonstration lessons with pre- and post-discussion analysis; workshops; trainings; seminars) for the purpose of gathering information related to mathematics. • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and is comfortable analyzing performance data (e.g. MAP data, STAR assessment results, and other data regarding proficiency) for the purpose of determining student needs. • Prepares lesson plans, in collaboration with teachers, related to differentiating instruction and providing interventions while adhering to district scope and sequence guides and curriculum.
